Horizon has been involved with NighShift Street Ministries since the very beginning in 2004 when Horizon Church member, MaryAnne Connor started serving soup and sandwiches to those in need.  The Senior Pastor at the time, Steve Witmer, was an integral part of getting it off the ground and functioning. Under MaryAnne Connors visionary leadership,  Nightshift has grown tremendously over the years and is a vital Christian ministry helping the needy!  Horizon sends food, and a volunteer team, to minister and share God’s love each week on the streets of our city.

Now a registered not-for-profit society, NightShift today has a volunteer base of more than 2,500 individuals, including community groups and church teams. Nightly outreach happens 365 days a year outside their offices on King George Boulevard. They offer meals, clothing, crisis counselling, basic nursing, a mobile library, prayer and loving community contact. The continuum of care includes ongoing, registered Christian counselling with sliding-scale fees, men’s and women’s support groups, Bible studies, extreme weather response, a clothing ministry (Sisters Thrift Boutique) and much more.
