Are You Lost? Jesus Is Looking for You
Have you ever lost something important—your keys, your phone, maybe even your wallet? The moment of panic sets in, and you scramble to retrace your steps, hoping to find what’s missing. But what if what’s truly lost isn’t an object—but a person?
Jesus came for the lost. He said it Himself: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). That’s not just a comforting phrase; it’s His mission. And if you feel far from God, the good news is—Jesus is looking for you.
Zacchaeus: The Lost Man Who Was Found
Zacchaeus was a man with power, wealth, and influence. As a chief tax collector, he had everything—except a sense of belonging. Despised by society, he had built his life on corruption and greed, yet something in him longed for more. So when Jesus passed through Jericho, Zacchaeus climbed a tree just to get a glimpse of Him.
And then the unexpected happened.
Jesus stopped, looked up, and called him by name: “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
Imagine the shock. The very person everyone rejected was the one Jesus sought out. The people muttered in judgment, but Jesus wasn’t concerned with their opinions. He wasn’t looking for perfect people—He was looking for lost people. And when Zacchaeus encountered Jesus, his life was transformed.
Jesus Still Seeks the Lost
Lostness isn’t just about location—it’s about condition. Some people are lost in addiction, shame, or fear. Others are lost in self-sufficiency, believing they don’t need God. But no matter the reason, Jesus is still on His rescue mission. He sees you, calls you by name, and invites Himself into your life—not to condemn, but to restore.
Maybe you’re like Zacchaeus, longing for a glimpse of something greater. Maybe you’ve been rejected by others or feel unworthy of God’s love. The truth is, you don’t have to clean yourself up before coming to Jesus. He meets you where you are—but He never leaves you the same.
What Will Your Response Be?
Zacchaeus didn’t just hear Jesus’ call; he responded. He repented, made things right, and followed Jesus with joy. His story is a reminder that no one is too far gone for God’s grace.
Jesus is calling you today, don’t ignore Him. Whether you’ve known about Him for years or are just now realizing your need for Him, He’s ready to meet you. Will you answer?
