Are You Living in the Truth?

We’ve all been there—doubts creep in, telling us we’re not good enough, that our past defines us, or that we’ll never find peace. These thoughts can be overwhelming and even paralyzing. But what if these feelings aren’t just fleeting moments of insecurity? What if they’re lies from an enemy determined to keep us from the freedom that Jesus offers?

The Bible makes it clear that Satan, the "father of lies," seeks to deceive us at every turn (John 8:44). But here’s the amazing news: Jesus came not only to give us life but to give us the truth that sets us free from these lies. It’s through His truth that we can stand firm, recognizing and rejecting the deception of the enemy.

The Subtle Power of Lies

Lies are tricky. They often come wrapped in half-truths or play on our deepest fears and desires. Whether it’s the lie that we’re unlovable, that our worth depends on success, or that our failures define us, these thoughts can shape how we see ourselves and the world. The worst part? We often don’t even realize we’re living in these lies.

This is exactly why Jesus’ truth is so important. His Word cuts through the deception, reminding us of who we really are—loved, valued, and redeemed. But the process of untangling lies from truth takes intentional effort.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

Thankfully, we don’t have to do this alone. God sent the Holy Spirit to be our guide and comforter, helping us discern truth from falsehood. The Holy Spirit illuminates the lies we’ve believed and equips us to replace them with God’s truth.

Are you willing to take a closer look at the thoughts and beliefs that shape your life? Jesus offers the truth that sets us free, but it’s up to us to embrace that freedom and walk in it every day.

To fight the lies of the enemy, we need spiritual tools that help us stand firm in the truth of Jesus. Here are some key Spiritual Disciplines:

1. Quiet Prayer (Silence Solitude and Prayer)

2. Scripture

3. Fasting

  1. What is the thought, feeling, and or/sensation?

I'm worried about losing my job and not being able to make my car payment.

2. What’s the lie beneath the thought, feeling, and/or sensation that reveals your attachment?

My safety and security are in my job, and owning newer, nicer things will make me happy.

3. What’s the truth?

"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13v5)
